I posted the following on Jay Bookman’s blog, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, on the morning of Saturday, March 10, 2017:
“We are going to be forced to see ourselves as Earthlings more than as nationals of any given nation, and we are going to be forced to see that we will have to adopt a rational communion with all people on earth so that we will be able to survive, together, on this planet.
By ‘forced, I mean these natural occurrences (climate change, worldwide diseases, population growth, technological change and growth) will ‘force’ us all to see that we MUST work together in cooperation rather than in competition with one another, through greed for power or avarice for money, if we will survive, as I see our common future.
Of course, I also, cannot help but see that this coming communal existence will be in harmony with God’s spiritual truths within our universe.
This past week I learned on cable news through two engineers/scientists that in less than a decade technology is going to control the planet to such a degree (cars motorized without people driving them, etc.) that jobs will be lost to the degree that there will be little that Donald Trump (mentioned with sarcasm in their faces for him) or anyone else will be able to do to create jobs for the people, enough to support the population’s need for jobs.
These two scientists predict that ultimately people who inhabit the earth are going to have to be subsidized with a minimum income in order to exist because of this coming new technological age, that is unstoppable.
My thoughts are that universal healthcare will, also, be necessary for people throughout this nation (and perhaps this planet if we move in a humane direction instead of a power-motivated direction) to be in tune with the future. The ideology of the Republicans is going against this historical movement and is destined to be made obsolete, imho.”
I posted the following on Jay Bookman’s blog on March 14, 2017:
“This planet is changing rapidly and technological advancement is unstoppable, which means that there will be fewer and fewer jobs for people throughout the globe in the coming years.
And, that means that people throughout the world are going to have to survive by having governments subsidize their incomes and their medical care. We are going to have to have community throughout this planet to work on our common solutions to these common problems: overpopulation, climate change, pollution, technological advancement, medical diseases that spread across the globe, energy and water management, etc.
Obama had the right vision for our common future on the planet and the right vision for our common humanity. Trump’s vision will destroy us all.”
